How this calculator works

Weight of a rectangular plate is simply its volume multiplied by material density:

W = L · B · t · ρ

L is length, B is width, t is thickness (all converted to meters internally), and ρ is material density in kg/m³. Multiply by quantity for a batch of identical plates.

No — this calculates the weight of a solid rectangular blank. Subtract the volume of any holes or cut-outs separately if you need net finished weight.

Can I use this for checkered or textured plate?

Use the plate's nominal (average) thickness as published by the mill — checkered plate datasheets typically already state an effective thickness for weight calculation purposes.
